Another Weigh, our zero-waste shop in Penrith, has reached 250 members after only three months of trading.
The shop, which buys food in bulk and encourages people to fill their own containers, was set up to help consumers reduce the amount of packaging in their weekly shop. The membership scheme allows customers a 10% discount on their food bill on payment of an upfront membership fee.
Shop Manager and founder, Zoe Hedges, is delighted with the membership uptake. “The fact that so many customers have joined the scheme in such a short time demonstrates that there is a will in Penrith to bring about change. It is lovely to have so many regular customers, many of whom have committed to membership.”
Another Weigh is at 6 Angel Lane in Penrith. The membership scheme costs £30 per year, or £15 for students and OAPs. It is free to those on benefits. It gives members 10% off food items. Profits from Another Weigh will go to our charity, Another Way.
