On the 23rd February, 200 young people and teachers came together in the biggest climate gathering in Cumbria’s history. The Power of 10 festival celebrated and elevated the voices of young people passionate about protecting our planet.
Highlights from the day included the premier of the Power of 10 film, inspiring everyone with Amy’s story founding Another Way, our regional reps interviewing Tim Farron and Matt Staniek about how they can most effectively tackle environmental issues, and a Communicating Climate Science workshop delivered by Dan Bailey, our Science Advisor, and Dr Ben Martynoga, a guardian science journalist.
Attendees asked some really insightful and engaging questions of all our speakers, and learned about how to use their own skills to find their superpower, through workshops such as Art for Visualising the Future, Poetry for the Planet and an eco-anxiety circle.
At the end of the day, all the schools created collaborative campaigns that Another Way will be supporting them to run over the next 6 months, in partnership with Cumbria Development Education Centre. We finished the festival with some amazing speeches from our Power of 10 reps about their experience in helping us to create and trial the web app.
Amy finished speaking to massive applause, and comments flooded the app on how much everyone enjoyed the day and left inspired to take action.
