Tell us a bit about yourself.
Heya! I’m originally from Hong Kong (see me posing with a mudskipper at a nature reserve), but I moved to the UK to study. I’m now a newly graduated Conservation Biology and Ecology student who wants to make a difference through my love for art and science. At Another Way, I’m a Translating Science volunteer.
What do you enjoy most about working for Another Way?
I love the variety of science I read through my translating science role. The Another Way team is inclusive and passionate about their work, I love working for them!
Which environmental topics are you most excited about?
I would say people creating solutions are what excites me the most. Two examples are the Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit organisation that has removed over ten million kilograms of plastic from the sea since 2019 (approximately the weight of the Eiffel Tower!), and the band Coldplay lowering their carbon emissions on tour by using their audience’s movement on the dance floor to generate electricity. I feel hopeful when I see all these creative and inspiring solutions.
What are some small steps you take to create a more sustainable lifestyle for yourself?
I’ve swapped my regular milk for oat milk, eating less meat, using a bar of soap for washing hands instead of a plastic bottle and using refillable cleaning options. It’s the small steps that build up.
Leave us with a small piece of positive news you’ve heard this week!
Ambios Ltd has been restoring the Sharpham Estate (Cornwall) to make it more wild for nature. They spotted an osprey flying in their rewilding fields for the first time! This is super exciting because the rewilding fields bring more animals back to nature.
